Description

Reducing carbon emissions to Zero maybe the most important mission for the globe and our industry?   The IT industry accounts for 4% to 7% of all carbon emissions and is expected to climb with AI, blockchain, and more power hungry servers. ISG believes there are several major trends that are impacting services provided by our industry that will be significantly impacted with the ESG agenda. For example, cloud hyper scalers are already moving to Net Zero data centers and have better technology to manage power consumptions than traditional data centers. Design for Sustainability and the shift to sustainable engineering and circular engineering are shifting models. How will these trends further accelerate cloud and engineering and what should we consider over the next 5+ years?  ESG is becoming a main topic for boards and is now part of the sourcing criteria. What criteria should the industry adopt to measure our industry and to help procurement teams assess compliance?  Should ESG compliance be added to third party risk metrics, such as the modern slavery act, and what metrics should we standardize across the industry?
